Heidelberg University has been continuously accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, formerly the North Central Association, since 1913 and was included on the Association’s first published list of accredited institutions.
The Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) awarded Heidelberg University full accreditation of its business programs at both the undergraduate and graduate level in 2016. ACBSP accreditation certifies that the teaching and learning processes within the business programs and degrees offered by the Heidelberg University School of Business meet the rigorous educational standards established by ACBSP.
Heidelberg University has transitioned to a Masters of Athletic Training (MAT) degree and has been approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
The University’s Master of Arts Degree in Counseling is recognized and approved by the Ohio Department of Education and the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board and is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
Heidelberg University's Music Department (as part of the School of Music and Theatre) has been a fully accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), upholding all requirements for recruitment, artistic programming and curricular development as stated in the NASM guidelines. In 2018, Heidelberg's Community Music School gained accreditation for community engagement and non-degree seeking instruction and programming.
Heidelberg University’s School of Education is fully accredited from the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)/Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), the organization responsible for professional accreditation of teacher education. The undergraduate program has licensure for Primary, Middle, and High School educators. In addition, teacher candidates can add to their licensure ISP (Intervention Specialist).This accreditation is evidence that Heidelberg's programs prepare quality teachers that possess the requisite knowledge, skills, and dispositions to positively affect the learning and development of diverse students.
The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Heidelberg University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
